Terms and Conditions
Veterans Motorsport Training Center | vetmotorsports.org
Effective Date: 10/7/2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Veterans Motorsport Training Center's website, online school, and in-person training programs. By using them, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who We Are and Acceptance of Terms
The Veterans Motorsport Training Center ("VMTC," "we," "us," or "our") is a Virginia nonstock corporation recognized as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. VMTC provides workforce training in automotive service, racecar fabrication and welding, and race team management through an online school and in-person training sites.
By accessing vetmotorsports.org, creating an account, enrolling in a program, or attending a training site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use our website, online school, or programs.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Effective Date" above shows the latest version. If you keep using our services after an update, you accept the updated Terms. If you are already enrolled, we will give you reasonable notice of any change that materially affects your enrollment.
2. Eligibility
-
VMTC programs are open to the public. Enrollment priority and discounted tuition are reserved for military veterans and transitioning service members first, and for underserved high school students and young adults second, subject to program capacity and eligibility verification.
-
You must be at least 18 years old to enroll, unless a specific program states that it accepts younger students. A student under 18 may enroll only with a parent or legal guardian's written consent, and that parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on the student's behalf.
-
Some programs, sites, or equipment may carry additional requirements, such as minimum age, a valid driver's license, or physical ability to perform shop tasks safely. We will tell you about these requirements before you enroll.
-
You agree that the information you give us during enrollment, including any veteran or service status, is accurate. Providing false information to obtain a discount or priority may result in loss of the discount, removal from the program, or both.
3. Website, Online School, and Accounts
Accounts. Some features require an account. You must give accurate information, keep your login credentials confidential, and tell us promptly at info@vetmotorsport.org if you believe your account has been used without your permission. You are responsible for activity under your account.
Online school. Enrolled students receive access to VMTC's online learning platform, which includes instruction in ASE-aligned automotive theory, welding and fabrication fundamentals, and race team management. Access is personal, non-transferable, and limited to the period of your enrollment. You may not share your login, record or redistribute course content, or let anyone else complete coursework for you.
Online-only courses and payment. VMTC sells and delivers online-only courses through the Thinkific platform. When you buy a course, you also agree to Thinkific's own terms of use and privacy policy, which govern your use of that platform. Thinkific and its payment partners process your payment. VMTC does not receive or store your full card number. The price, course description, and any access period appear on the course page at checkout. Unless the course page says otherwise, you have access for 12 months from the date of purchase. When access ends, you can no longer view the course content and may need to purchase the course again to continue.
Accessibility. We want our online courses to be usable by everyone. If you need a reasonable accommodation, contact us at info@vetmotorsport.org before or during your course, and we will work with you in good faith.
Acceptable use. You agree not to:
-
break the law or violate anyone's rights while using our services;
-
harass, threaten, or discriminate against students, instructors, staff, or volunteers;
-
attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, accounts, or data;
-
introduce malware, scrape the website or platform, or interfere with its operation;
-
use our name, logo, or materials to suggest that VMTC endorses you, your business, or any product without our written permission.
Availability. We work to keep the website and online school available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend access for maintenance, security, or other operational reasons, and we may change or discontinue features with reasonable notice where possible.
4. Enrollment, Tuition, and Payment
Enrollment. Your enrollment is complete only when we accept your application, you sign any required enrollment agreement, and you pay the required tuition or deposit, or we confirm an approved funding source. We may decline or waitlist applicants when a program is full or when an applicant does not meet program requirements.
Tuition and fees. Tuition, deposits, and any additional fees (such as tools, uniforms, personal protective equipment, or certification exam fees) are stated in the program information or enrollment agreement you receive before you enroll. Tuition may differ by program, site, and student category. We may change tuition for future enrollments, but not for a program you have already enrolled in and paid for.
Discounts and priority. Veterans, transitioning service members, and eligible underserved youth may qualify for priority placement and discounted tuition. We may ask for documentation, such as a DD-214, military ID, or other proof of eligibility. Discounts are not transferable and may be withdrawn if the information provided was inaccurate.
Payment. Tuition is due according to the schedule in your enrollment agreement. If you pay in installments, you agree to make each payment on time. We may pause access to the online school or training site if a payment is more than 30 days past due, after written notice to you.
Third-party funding. Some students may pay with grants, scholarships, employer or agency sponsorship, or education benefits such as GI Bill or VR&E benefits, where a program is approved for them. We do not guarantee that any program is approved for a particular benefit or that any funding source will approve or pay your tuition. If a funding source does not pay, you remain responsible for any balance unless your enrollment agreement says otherwise.
Donations. Gifts to VMTC are separate from tuition. Donations are not payment for services, and no goods or services are provided in exchange unless we tell you otherwise in writing.
5. Cancellation, Withdrawal, and Refund Policy
A student who withdraws receives a refund of tuition based on when VMTC receives written notice. The schedule below applies to tuition paid for in-person programs, including any online coursework that is part of an in-person program. Online-only courses bought through Thinkific follow the separate rule below the table. In the schedule, "progress" means the share of scheduled instructional hours in the program that have passed on the date of notice

How to withdraw. Send written notice (email is acceptable) to info@vetmotorsport.org or to VMTC at 7571 Falkland Dr, Gainesville, VA 20155. Stopping attendance without notice does not cancel your enrollment. If you stop attending and do not notify us, we will treat your last date of attendance as your withdrawal date once you have missed 14 consecutive calendar days of scheduled instruction.
When VMTC cancels or changes a program. If we cancel a program or cohort, or postpone its start by more than 30 days, you may choose a full refund of all amounts paid or a transfer to a later cohort at no added cost.
Military and emergency exceptions. If you are called to active duty, deploy, or experience a documented serious medical or family emergency, you may choose either a full refund of tuition for the unused portion of the program or a transfer to a later cohort, with no penalty. We may ask for reasonable documentation.
Non-refundable items. Tools, uniforms, personal protective equipment, and exam or certification fees already purchased for you, or paid to a third party on your behalf, are not refundable once issued or paid, unless the item is returned unused in its original condition.
Third-party funding. If someone else paid your tuition (for example, a grant, a scholarship, an employer, or VA education benefits), the refund goes back to that source first, as the funding rules require. Any remaining refund goes to you.
Timing. We issue approved refunds within 30 days after we receive your written notice, using the original payment method where possible.
Conduct removal. If we remove you from a program for violating our conduct or safety rules (see Sections 6 and 7), the schedule above applies using the date of removal.
Online-only courses. If you buy an online-only course through Thinkific, you may request a full refund within 7 days of purchase, as long as you have completed no more than 10% of the course content. After that, online course purchases are not refundable. To request a refund, email info@vetmotorsport.org from the address you used to buy the course. We issue approved refunds to your original payment method, usually within 10 business days. We may decline a refund request that appears to be an abuse of this policy, such as downloading course materials and then asking for a refund.
6. Training Sites, Safety, and Assumption of Risk
Training sites. VMTC delivers hands-on training at sites that VMTC operates or that are hosted by partner organizations under written agreements with VMTC. These Terms apply at every VMTC training site. A site may also have its own safety and facility rules, which you must follow while you are there.
Safety rules. Automotive service, welding, fabrication, and motorsport work involve real hazards, including moving vehicles, lifts and jack stands, hot work and fire, electrical systems (including high-voltage vehicles), chemicals, noise, heavy tools, and heavy components. You agree to:
-
complete required safety orientation and training before working in the shop;
-
wear the required personal protective equipment and follow lockout/tagout, lift, fire, and chemical-handling procedures;
-
use only the tools and equipment you have been trained and authorized to use;
-
follow instructor directions at all times, and stop work immediately if told to;
-
never work under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any substance that impairs judgment, coordination, or alertness; and
-
report injuries, near misses, and unsafe conditions to an instructor right away.
An instructor may remove you from a work area, class, or site at any time for safety reasons.
Assumption of risk. You understand that hands-on training carries a risk of injury, illness, or property damage, including serious injury or, in rare cases, death, even when everyone follows the rules. By enrolling, you voluntarily accept these risks to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Waiver and release. Before taking part in hands-on training, you will be asked to sign a separate Participant Waiver, Release, and Assumption of Risk form. Where the law allows, you agree to release VMTC, its directors, officers, employees, instructors, volunteers, and host site partners from claims arising from ordinary negligence in connection with your participation. A parent or guardian must sign for a participant under 18. If you do not sign the form, you may not take part in hands-on training.
Your property. You are responsible for your personal tools and belongings. VMTC is not responsible for loss or damage to them.
Vehicles and customer property. Do not operate, move, or work on any vehicle or equipment at a training site unless an instructor has assigned and authorized it.
7. Attendance, Conduct, Assessment, and Credentials
Attendance and progress. Students are expected to attend scheduled instruction and complete assigned work. Program-specific attendance, assessment, and completion requirements are provided to you at enrollment. Missing too much instruction or failing to meet them may affect your completion status and any certificate.
Student conduct. VMTC is a respectful, inclusive environment. We welcome students of every race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, and background, and we do not discriminate in admissions, programs, or any student rights or privileges. You agree to treat everyone with respect. We may warn, suspend, or remove a student for conduct that includes harassment or discrimination, violence or threats, theft or damage to property, serious or repeated safety violations, cheating, or substance use at a training site.
Assessment. Your progress is evaluated through the methods described in your program materials, such as written knowledge checks and hands-on performance assessments. Instructors and the program administration make final decisions on assessment results, and you may ask for a review under the process we give you at enrollment.
Academic integrity. You must complete all coursework, quizzes, and assessments yourself. Having someone else complete work or an exam for you, using unauthorized help, sharing answers, or copying others' work is a violation. We may void the results, withhold a certificate, or remove you from a course or program, and the refund rules in Section 5 will apply.
Certificates and credentials. Students who meet all program requirements receive a VMTC certificate of completion. VMTC training is designed to align with industry standards, such as ASE task lists, but a VMTC certificate is not an ASE certification, a license, or a degree. Third-party certifications, such as ASE or welding certifications, are awarded only by those organizations after you meet their requirements and pay their fees.
No guarantee of employment or outcomes. VMTC works to prepare students for careers and may share job and apprenticeship opportunities, but we do not guarantee employment, placement, a particular wage, passage of any certification exam, or approval for any education benefit.
Photos and media. Training sites may be photographed or recorded for instruction, safety, and VMTC communications. We will ask for your consent to use your name, image, or story in public marketing, fundraising, or social media. You may decline without affecting your enrollment.
8. Intellectual Property
The VMTC name, logo, website, curriculum, course materials, videos, and other content are owned by VMTC or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We give enrolled students a limited, personal, non-commercial license to use course materials for their own training. You may not copy, sell, distribute, post, or create derivative works from our materials without our written permission. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve our programs without owing you anything.
9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Our website, online school, and programs are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, VMTC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent the law allows, VMTC and its directors, officers, employees, instructors, volunteers, and host site partners are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost income or opportunity, arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim relating to a program is limited to the tuition you paid for that program. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or any rights you have that cannot be waived.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Any claim that is not resolved informally must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you and VMTC consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
11. General Terms
Privacy. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information and is part of these Terms.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with your enrollment agreement, waiver, and Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and VMTC about your use of our services. If they conflict, the enrollment agreement controls on tuition and program details.
Severability. If a part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision, that does not waive our right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. VMTC may assign these Terms to a successor organization.
Independent organization. VMTC is a separate legal entity. Its programs, policies, and obligations are its own.
